The Hats are in the Mail!

Here's a card with a mini fun fur hat I created to put in the box for the organizer, minisoup.blogspot.com, and the loaded box of hats ready to mail! This was a fun project and had the added benefit of subtracting 8 balls of yarn from my stash!

Today, we took the girl scouts to the Museum of Craft and Folk Art to see "The Art of Gaman", which is an exhibit of artwork produced by Japanese-Americans interred in camps during World War 2. There was some amazingly beautiful things crafted from whatever these people could find in the camps. I am amazed at the resiliency of the human spirit. To add poignancy to the experience, my co-leader had parents who were interred as children and she shared her family's story with us. At the end of the museum tour, the curator and an elderly woman who had also been interred spoke with us for about 20 minutes. It was a beautiful and inspiring experience. I am always inspired by the kinds of crafts that emerge from adverse situations.
