Socks nearly done

These socks are headed for Afghanistan. I am actually nearly done with them by tonight, which is good. I have only the hems left on the grey sweater and many ideas swimming in my head for next projects, including a design of my own involving hexagons.

Hexagons have been capturing my imagination since the first time I saw the book "Knitting Nature" by Norah Gaugin. I have come to the conclusion that hexagons are the reason for my fascination with that book. Since, I've found instructions for making a basic hexagon in Unexpected Knitting. I've decided to use that as a springboard for my own design. I'll post more as it comes together.

I am also down another 2 balls of yarn. A friend was a bit short of light blue mohair for a shawl she is making, and lo and behold, I had 2 balls light blue mohair that she thought might work. I love to see things find a good place!
